I t’s
becoming easier for non-web designers to maintain their own
websites. But it’s been our experience that these things are
never as simple and easy as the software box covers claim.
Still, with a little spit and polish, you could learn and
use a product like Macromedia’s Contribute, which allows lay
people to update their websites.
You may be thinking that it would be cheaper
to maintain your own site because then there’s no invoice
to pay. But do you have the time to learn another piece of
software? Can’t a trained web designer do it faster than you
could? Of course.
And, how much is your time worth? Do you have
the time to study software manuals? In the end, would you
save any money? And how much is it going to cost you if people
feel that your website is anything less than professional?
Your web designer built your site. They know
it inside and out. They can get the job done more quickly
and effectively.
