Manual
search engine submissions give you control over where and
how your site will be submitted. Automated submission software
is generally playing the numbers game to get you to buy: “Look,
you’ll be submitted
to thousands of search engines!”
And we’ve already discussed that many search engines detect
automated submissions and do penalize the site. Why? Because
automated submissions tend to overload the system with thousands
of requests, many of them bogus.
If you use automated submission software, you may soon find
your e-mail box filling up with “spam.”
Why? Because a lot of the search engines and directories to
which your site was submitted are actually link farms or sites
that help spammers harvest new e-mail addresses.
Getting good search engine rankings
is hard work, but we are talking about your business, aren’t
we? Isn’t it worth the effort? Isn’t it worth taking a little
care?
